Little Boo Hoo!

Here is our new little deaf Boston Terrier laying on Ame!  She was born on October 31st, she looks like a ghost with her mostly white head, and if you sneak up behind her and say Boo! she won't hear you.  Also included are the two little Chihuahua's we got my Mom for Christmas.  The black one is Tiki Tiki, and the brown one is Louis.

Boo is deaf, but you wouldn't know it from spending time with her.  She loves to climb under Jennie's shirt and fall asleep, and she particularly loves laying ON Churchill, our new St. Bernard Puppy (coming in a future Post).  She prances around and is absolutely fearless.  She plays with big Cinder (our German Short Hair Pointer) and jumps around.  The first few nights we had her she howled ALL NIGHT LONG in her crate, but then we thougth of putting her in with Churchill, and she hasn't made a peep since.  She loves sleeping with him!  She eats a lot, and she plays a lot, and she sleeps a lot.

There really is something special about this dog.  She really is so alive and filled with character you can't help but love her.

Crabby Shack Callie

A couple years ago at Jan and Smitty's house we found a batch of four kittens outside. Later we would find a fifth. The kids had found a few earlier that year, and tried to help them. It was heartbreaking, as all of them but one died (Misty is the one who lived). We nursed them but couldn't save them. We were able to save this batch however. There were five, as I said. Callie was one of them, along with Bug and Little Chili, both of whom are with us now, and the two boys, Fuzzer (AKA Mr. Fuzzles) and Big Chili (AKA Buster). Callie is a beautiful Callico, who has a loud mouth. She's also the first cat I've ever had who is fat. If you walk behind her while she runs you can see her stomach swing wildly from side to side! She loves to drink water from the sink, and she loves to sit on your lap and purr and dig her claws into you. She greeted Houdini (you'll meet him soon enough!) with a cat fight, and she and Philo snarl at each other quite a bit. But she's an overall friendly cat. Though she had a TERRIBLE habit of knocking over ANY cup she finds. The other night she knocked over Jennie's glass of water DRENCHING her face (Jennie's face, not Callie's) at 4:00 AM!!! Jennie woke up and screamed a few expletives! It was funny (after we calmed down!) She gets along well with the dogs as well. She doesn't like to go outside at all, and her favorite place is her perch on top of the cat scratching post.

Riley

This is a really good picture of Riley. He has a habit of making silly faces when you take his picture, so this was a pleasant surprise!

The kids are out of school this entire week. Asher came to work with me for the full day. Surprisingly we had a lot of orders, even after the holiday. We had lunch at Chick's together and had a good talk about life. Riley and Ame were over at Grandma's.

WANTED DOG: FIGGY

FIGGY

I'm a flat-faced, no-tail, bug-eyed, bat-eared, snotting, snorting, sputtering, disarticulated-jaw yawning, sneezing, window-licking, soccer ball-mauling, mouth-foaming, tongue-bathing, frog-leg lying, blanket burrowing, one-piece-at-a-time chewing, ankle biting, tug-of-war fixating, car-chasing, lopsided skull muscled, all-day snoozing, french-fry-hoovering, Princess-avoiding, child-nipping, feather-duster-shaking, 0n-the-bed peeing, six kinds of ugly, stick-her-butt-in-your-face-loving Boston!

Oh For the Love of Snow

Today was marked by the extraordinary efforts of our family to shovel the driveway.  Five storms in eight days (Global Warming my A$$), left our driveway packed.  But it wasn't just the snow.  Courtesy of our local snowplow driver our driveway was completely socked in with a 3 foot high wall of crusted ice.  This took the better part of the morning to hack apart and shovel aside.  At one point all five of us were out working.  A quick trip to the two local hardware stores for more shovels and a snowblower proved fruitless, as we were informed by a certain hick salesman, "Ain't got no shovels.  That's whut happens when a big starm comes in."  So we did it with what we had.

We followed that with a walking of little Figgy (cute in her winter coat) and shivering Cinder.  Back from that we took the kids to Grandma Jan's where we sat and visited while spending time with her two new little Chihuahua's, newly named Tiki Tiki and Louie.

After that we stopped by Heber Nails to get Jennie's nails fixed and filled.   That took a bit longer than expected.  While she was getting her nails done, I went into the local liberal hippie coffee house establishment with Figgy and had a bagel.  Afterwards, Jennie complained how cold it was, so home to warm up.

Tonight we ate at Cafe Galleria, a little Italian Pizzaria in Midway that makes the most incredible little pizzas.  Really thin crusts, with really tasty cheese, sauce, and toppings.  I highly recommend this place.  We each finished our pizzas!

Then we watched Burn After Reading, a Coen Brothers movie that I will have to review later, but right now I can tell you it was a bit of a disappointment to me.   They were going for a Big Lebowski, and fell far far short, Jennie says.

That was our day!

Pictures of Christmas Puppies and Festivities coming in a future post!

PS - Poor little Boo had the squirts.  And Cinder was trusted in the house alone while we went to get pizza, something she has not been allowed to do for a few months.  She immediately betrayed that trust by pulling down a cardboard box off the kitchen table filled with software and cables and chewed them into little tiny itty bitty microscopic pieces.

PPS - Last night we came back from Salt Lake and our Christmas Tree was totally dead, brittle and dangerous. So we took it down (it now beautifully adorns the front lawn) and the front room is a kennel for dogs!  It feels good and open though!  I'm glad we did it!
